Foster’s Food Fair IGA, together with Generali Worldwide, Cayman Islands Health Service Authority, Campbell's, Quaker, Ocean Spray and Tropicana, is pleased to announce the official launch of its new Healthy Lifestyles program. The Healthy Lifestyles program is designed to create awareness and provide expert knowledge on common health issues which the general public may be facing currently or in the future due to ones individual diet. Some of these health issues include diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity etc.
Each Saturday, one of the four included Foster’s Food Fair IGA stores will be scheduled to host screenings focusing on the health issue of the month. At each of the screenings nurses will administer basic tests and provide pamphlets along with cards indicating to the individual their screening numbers and basic knowledge about the health issue. The public will be able to ask questions at this time about the screening and will also be invited to attend the monthly follow-up seminar held at Foster’s Food Fair IGA, The Strand.
The monthly follow-up seminars will further educate the individuals, with the participation of qualified health professionals, about the findings of the tests, answer any questions they might have about what the screenings told them, and to help them come up with healthy alternatives to substitute for potentially harmful or unhealthy foods that pertain to their specific health issue and assist them in coping with the particular illness.
“Our overall goal with this program is to bring awareness, educate and change ones lifestyle as it pertains to eating healthy. We believe this program continues to show our commitment to and genuine interest in our customers’ health and wellness" stated James Waters, Merchandising Manager, and Fosters Food Fair IGA.
In addition, Bethany Smith, Community Dietitian/Nutritionist with C.I. Health Services Authority mentioned “The C.I. Health Services Authority is pleased to partner with Foster’s Food Fair IGA, Generali Worldwide and Progressive Distributors Limited in raising awareness of health issues and helping individuals attain a greater degree of wellness. In particular, we know that chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and obesity are related to lifestyles. This programme not only offers awareness of one’s risk factors through the screenings, but helps to assist individuals in making healthier choices through the educational resources made available and signage displayed in-store. It is also easily accessible to the community. We would definitely encourage people to take advantage of this program.”
“The Healthy Lifestyles program is a wonderful community initiative and Generali Worldwide is proud to be a part of it. Generali has been a strong advocate of preventative health and public awareness and this program highlights the importance of ‘knowing your numbers’. We will also be providing information for children to take away in line with our Be Active & Eat Smart Program so all members of the family can benefit” commented Maureen Cubbon, Manager - Marketing Communications, Health & Wellness with Generali Worldwide.
"We see this as an opportunity to offer services not always readily available to our customers. Hopefully by bringing these services to our customers, they will take advantage. Our slogan of “We Care” is more than just words, it is the way we approach every customer and we aim to add as many benefits to their shopping experience as possible" stated Woody Foster, Managing Director of Foster’s Food Fair IGA. “This is just another way to help our customers and as a result, we will continue to refine our products and services to meet their needs now and in the future."
