Foster's Food Fair IGA Donates To Victims of Hurricane Dean

Foster's Food Fair IGA is pleased to announce it will be donating product and supplies to the victims of Hurricane Dean in Jamaica. The donation is largely to assist those in need and will be allocated in the most affected areas of Jamaica. This initiative is being coordinated via GraceKennedy Limited and will be distributed by The Salvation Army (Top Hill Division).

"Just under three years ago our lives were forever altered by Hurricane Ivan. If not for the support we received from outside sources, we may not have been able to rebuild as quickly as we have and bring normalcy back into our lives. In the wake of the devastation caused to Jamaica by Hurricane Dean and our own first hand knowledge of the effect of hurricanes, I believe that it is inherent that we the people of Cayman Islands take every opportunity to support and help those people currently in need in Jamaica. I believe it is our turn, to return the support we received from outside sources and help the people of Jamaica in every manner possible, be it monetarily or in supplies." Woody Foster, Managing Director, Foster's Food Fair IGA

Some of the product and supplies being donated by Foster's Food Fair IGA include: Anchor Extra Calcium Milk Powder, Flour, Grace Sausages, Grace Corned Beef, Grace Mackerel, Grace Oil Refined Vegetables, Grace Sardines, Grace Corn Meal, Rice, Roma Cocoa, Dried Saltfish, Solar Salt, Springtime Detergent, Springtime Bleach, Spring Time Fabric Softener, and Black Dark Sugar.

In addition, Foster's Food Fair IGA is also, in association with the local Jamaican Consulate Office, accepting monetary donations for the people of Jamaica. All monies collected will be forwarded directly to the Jamaican Consulate Office for relief efforts tied to the hurricane. Monetary donations can be made at all 5 Foster's Food Fair IGA stores and Priced Right at every cash register via PLU 650.

Foster's Food Fair IGA is also organizing a food drive in which goods can be dropped in marked containers at the exit doors of all stores. Typically, the most needed items are as follows: bottled water, meal replacement beverages, hand-held snacks such as granola, energy and breakfast bars, beef jerky, flip top canned meals such as hearty soups, stews, chili and/or pasta; paper items - plates, bowls, cups and utensils; baby items - baby food, diapers and wipes; personal hygiene items such as feminine products, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap; canned meats (tuna, chicken, salmon); canned fruit and vegetables, 100% juice, sports drinks, coffee, tea, boxed meals.

Fosters Food Fair IGA would like to encourage all the people of the Cayman Islands to do what they can to help. Every contribution, big or small, will help provide assistance to the victims of this devastating storm.
